BioProducts from Plants and Microbes

The 7th Rothamsted International BioMarket
BioProducts for Food and Health
8 - 10 November 2006

Aims

International plant & microbial biotech innovation partnering event

Now in its seventh year, the BioMarket is an international partnering event that attracts senior decision makers from major international companies, SMEs and academia who are involved in the identification, knowledge transfer and commercialisation of value added bioproducts arising from plant and microbial biotechnology research.

Torrent News The event combines traditional conference lecture sessions with a full delegate partnering service. It is designed not only to introduce new ideas but also to maximise the opportunities for delegates to meet new contacts with real business and research alliance potential.

Sector with enormous future potential

BioMarket 2006 - BioProducts for Food and Health - focuses on an area where plant and microbial biotechnology has enormous potential: the development of foods, crops and novel bioactive substances with human health benefits. With our increasing understanding of the molecular basis of life, crops are being designed to produce more nutritious foods yet with lower chemical and energy input needs; microbial and plant cells are being developed as ‘factories’ to produce new bioactive compounds; novel enzymes are being used to produce food ingredients with enhanced nutritional and organoleptic properties and nutraceuticals are being developed with real health benefits.

The discoveries that the biotechnology industry are making today will shape the future of the Food Industry and its suppliers, one of Europe's largest industrial sectors, and BioMarket 2006 is designed not only to keep you up to date with the latest European developments in this field, but also to help you meet the partners your organisation needs to convert these new opportunities into reality.

International high level delegates

Join us this year to mix with an international delegate list of leading-edge, forward looking, entrepreneurial biotechnology and bioscience-based organisations. To view a list of past BioMarket delegates, please see Previous Attendees.

The BioMarket format includes:

Conference Schedule:

Specialist talks by leading international speakers covering hot topics relating to plant and microbial biotechnology, its applications to food and health, and related business and commercial issues.

European Discovery Showcase:

A series of presentations and posters by participants in leading-edge European Community funded research programmes, bringing you up-to-date with the latest research results from Europe.

Partnering Meetings:

The heart of the BioMarket event and designed to take the 'chance' element out of making new contacts. Prior to the event, delegates post their organisation profiles on the password-protected section of the BioMarket web site. Based on these profiles, each delegate chooses who they would like to meet and, via the BioMarket office, pre-book a selection of individual one-to-one meetings. The partnering sessions run over the 2nd and 3rd afternoons of the event.

Delegate Presentations:

An opportunity for individual delegates to present, as part of the main Conference Programme, their aims for the BioMarket and to outline their organisation’s skills and experience and the types of research or business opportunities they are seeking.

Technology Transfer Poster Showcase:

An opportunity for delegates to post up the results of their research.
